Use Templates to Make Quilts in Love of Quilting

July/August 2003 issue

This is the conversion information for the patchwork quilts in this month's issue that have patterns the same size as one of our templates. All of our templates are identified by number or letter. Numbers in the diagrams refer to a specific template. Follow the instructions in the magazine, substituting the following information where it applies.

Sails, piece A = Set B, #9
Boat background C = Set N, #81
Cut triangles and position so you can sew 1/4" from edge and flip down into position.
Cut strips for rest of quilt as described.

The strip widths for our templates are the same as for the special rulers mentioned in the article. A = Set B, #9
B = Set B, #8
The four-patch units would be made using template #12, Set B. See our method for making four patches faster with templates than a ruler.

A = #1
B = #2 with straight grain on longest side
C = #4 D = #3
X = four-patches made with #5
y= strips cut width of #5, squares with #1
