Encyclopedia of Patchwork Blocks

Volume 1

Block Index Volume 1Page 21 is a good example of the type of information in all the Encyclopedia of Patchwork Blocks books.

Pieced Star can be made in four block sizes with Set A and four more sizes with Set B, from 4 1/4" to 16" (12" size is made with Set A). Templates are keyed by number in the boxed area. An exploded block diagram illustrates construction.

The block is repeated, arranged and colored in different ways to spark your ideas—or use ours! You can photocopy the blank grids and try out different colorations.

Many pages feature "Design Tips." In this case, it is suggested that you try combining two blocks with the same basic grid (like 4 units across and 4 down) to create new quilt designs.
