Volume 2 Sets C & D

Encyclopedia of Patchwork Blocks

block imagev2Page 31 features a neat four patch block (4 units across, 4 down) that can be made to finish at 12" with Set A and 16" with Set B. Templates are keyed by number in the boxed area. An exploded block diagram illustrates construction.

Even at this small size, you can see how many neat variations we came up with, and how different they look when the blocks are repeated.

This page features a special "Construction Tip" for a technique we call trick piecing. It's based on the Snowball Trick. In this case, the kite shape and triangle are cut, then placed together and stitched (center diagram in the gray box), and then the triangle is flipped down into place. (This trick is really great for working with pieces that would be fussy to handle.)
